About

HERMAN BROWN began life in 1983 as a creative collaboration between founder and owner Anna Nicholson and a chap with similar vintage interests (no, not Herman Brown himself). Initially, they built up the business via market stalls and fairs but soon, with a tiny budget and bucket loads of ideas, they opened up their first shop in Edinburgh. Business soon picked up a lively pace supported by regular overseas buying trips to Munich, Amsterdam and Seattle, as well as Brick Lane in London and the Barrowlands and Paddy's Market in Glasgow.

These days Herman Brown continues to evolve and diversify as new opportunites arise. Even after 25 years of tracking down vintage clothes, jewellery and accessories, exciting new sources for stock constantly appear (and no, we're not telling you where!). At present we place a specific emphasis on accessories and jewellery, with a determined focus on quality over quantity.
